Split billing
Many of the existing partners on the platform sell to big enterprise customers who centralize procurement for volume purchasing on behalf of their subsidiaries. To effectively handle those complex transactions, the partners require effective solutions on the platform.
The split billing feature introduces a dynamic solution for Marketplace Managers, enabling them to define a company hierarchy for streamlined subscription allocation to child companies. It facilitates precise billing distribution within complex organizational structures, enhancing efficiency and accuracy in subscription management.
Key features:
- Company hierarchy definition - Marketplace managers can now establish a hierarchical structure, associating parent companies with child companies. The hierarchy supports 1 level of association and 1-to-many relationships (that is, 1 parent company can be associated with multiple child companies).
- Subscription allocation - On purchasing a subscription, the company administrators will be able to allocate the subscription to their child companies.
In the current release, company administrators will be able to allocate the subscription during the checkout process. With subsequent releases, they will also be able to allocate the subscription during the update flow and ad hoc.
It is important to note that the allocation excludes one-time fees, such as setup fees.
- Flexible billing - When a subscription is allocated, the system will generate recurring parent and child invoices, based on the allocation defined by the user (during the checkout flow with this first release). The parent invoices are the only payable, taxable, and reconcilable invoices in the platform. Child invoices on the other hand represent a pro forma copy that is NOT payable, taxable, or reconcilable in the platform.
Important notes:
- Company administrators can only allocate invoices to their child companies. The user management and assignment remain at the parent company level.
- Subscriptions can be created only at the parent company level. The child companies only view their own child invoices.
- Parent company administrators can view both the parent invoice and all child invoices.
- Marketplace managers will be able to view all invoices, for all parent and child companies in their marketplace.
